Little Rock Kitchen Gets BIG Makeover

This kitchen transformation in Cabot, AR took what was once a dark, cramped room—due in large part to black countertops that extended up the wall, all the way to the bottom of the upper cabinets—and transformed it into an open, airy, modern kitchen.

The old, black counter paired with a medium-toned cabinet color and little access to natural light closed off the kitchen. It needed plenty of lighter cosmetic touches to brighten and open up the space.

New Countertops and New Backsplash Create Gorgeous Cooking Space

Tearing out the old, black material and replacing the Cabot countertops with a brighter piece instantly added more light and updated the space, giving the kitchen a more modern look overall. The speckled titan grey even makes the same cabinets from the old kitchen look entirely renewed!

By adding a complementary backsplash that picks up on the multitude of grey tones in the new countertops, our installers helped create added visual interest to break up the space. Plus, the easy-to-clean tile materials are perfect for Arkansas kitchens, bathrooms, and mudrooms.

New Sink & Counters Refresh This CO Springs Kitchen

New Light and New Life

This kitchen was functional, but far from fantastic. Dark countertops felt like a heavy anchor weighing down the room, while a strip of backsplash protected only a few inches of space before giving way to white walls. Our team replaced the drab countertops, backsplash, and sink with more modern options to breathe new life into this dated kitchen.

Colorado Springs, CO Kitchen Transformation

Our team started by removing the old, dark counters with King Ivory engineered stone. This gorgeous, eco-friendly engineered stone has a scratch- and stain-resistant, nonporous surface, making it a great choice for kitchens. It’s an extremely low-maintenance piece that doesn’t need special care or treatments to remain beautiful for years to come.

A backsplash was necessary to create enough contrast in the room and properly protect the walls between the counters and upper cabinets. Fine Lines Sardinia was dark enough to pop while still complementing some of the brown and beige tones used throughout the room.

Finally, we installed an enlarged double sink to increase prep and clean up capacity. A dark color was the perfect choice to bring out the backsplash and tie the space together, creating a cohesive kitchen this family will love for years to come!

Don’t Choose Between Rare Natural Stone and Eco-Friendly Recycled Glass

For those who love the look of rare natural stone cut from quarry, but want to ensure their kitchen or bathroom remodel is as environmentally-friendly as possible—look no further. etherium® by E-Stone can give you the best of both worlds. Each slab resembles some of the world’s rarest stone, yet is made of 78% post-consumer recycled material in combination with common stone and quartz.

Recycled Glass Countertops FAQ

  1. How durable are recycled glass countertops?
Recycled glass countertops are very durable and made for everyday use. They’re scratch-, stain-, and impact-resistant, making them perfect for kitchens and bathrooms. With that said, you’ll still need to maintain proper care of your countertops to keep them in peak condition. Don’t leave highly acidic juices or harsh chemicals on them for long, and avoid using sharp objects directly on their surface.
  2. How much do recycled glass countertops cost?
Depending on the size of your counters and the specific product you choose, recycled glass countertops vary in price. Our products are made with a combination of post-consumer recycled glass and natural stone, quartz, porcelain, or granite. The combination of these materials will affect the price.
  3. Where to buy recycled glass countertops?
Granite Transformations of Charlotte offers a line of recycled glass countertops, with options ranging from beautiful blue crushed glass to reflecting white quartz and recycled glass. As you’re on the hunt for the perfect slab, you’ll want to bear in mind that not all glass countertops are created equal. Unlike some other vendors, you can trust the durability of our products, which are all backed by a lifetime limited warranty.

Whether your tub is seldom-used or simply an eyesore, a tub to shower conversion can transform your space in as little as one day. Granite Transformations of Charlotte specializes in creating spacious, luxurious walk-in showers for homeowners wanting a fast and practical upgrade to their bathroom.

Why Invest in a Tub to Shower Conversion?

Some real estate agents will caution against converting your tub to a shower. While it’s true that bathtubs can hold great value, especially to families with young children and dogs, tubs that are outdated, unattractive, or space-hogs in small bathrooms can actually do more harm than good.

As long as you already have a tub elsewhere in your home, choosing to go ahead with a tub to shower conversion can be rewarding for your family and guests. Here are some of the top reasons homeowners choose to convert their bath to a shower:

  1. Bathtubs can take up valuable space in small guest baths. If you have a guest bathroom with a large tub yet little room for changing or using the vanity, a tub to shower conversion can open up space.
  2. Showers can make bathing more convenient for those who use mobility aids. For those who use wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility aids, zero-threshold showers make getting in and out easier by eliminating the need to step or be lifted over large walls and curbs.
  3. Showers can make a bathroom feel more open and modern. Large, clunky bathtubs and busy shower curtains can take up a lot of space and make a room appear crowded. Showers, especially if they’re walk-in and have clear glass doors, can make any bathroom feel more open and spacious.

Tub to Shower Conversion Design Options

Granite Transformations offers a wide variety of products for your bathroom remodels and tub to shower conversion projects. You won’t have to settle for boring fiberglass or acrylic shower stalls—we offer a large selection of breathtaking etherium by E-Stone™ slabs and beautiful mosaic tiles.

Bathtub Remodels

Wanting to preserve your home’s only tub? Prefer the look of a bathtub, but the one in your home fails to measure up? Wanting to give your bathroom an updated look, but don’t necessarily want to install a new shower? A tub to shower conversion isn’t the only bathroom remodeling project that Granite Transformations offers to Charlotte homeowners. We have a large selection of tiles and slabs to surround your tub or shower. We also offer cabinet refacing, vanity tops, and flooring to completely transform your space.

High-end concrete is one of the hottest trends for kitchen countertops and bathroom vanities. Concrete countertops are extremely versatile and can be used in a wide variety of interior design styles, including modern, industrial, and even farmhouse. With that said, they do present some problems that may have you wondering whether real concrete countertops are all they’re cracked up to be.

The Downsides of Concrete Countertops

Despite its handcrafted beauty and versatility, concrete is not an ideal surface for bathrooms and kitchens. Concrete cracks easily, and it’s virtually impossible to have a slab poured without at least a few hairline fractures—even with perfect installation, high-quality sealant, and meticulous care. Concrete countertops are also more vulnerable than other surfaces to large fractures caused by settlement or pressure. And, unfortunately, these cracks often cannot be repaired and will most likely require replacing the entire slab.

Here are more concerns that real concrete countertops pose:

  • Concrete is naturally porous, meaning it absorbs liquids that can lead to cracks, stains, and bacteria growth. Sealant must be initially applied during the installation process and re-applied at least once a year to prevent liquid absorption.
  • Concrete is heavy, and concrete countertops can weigh around 20-25 pounds per square foot. This may require you to reinforce your cabinetry and flooring to improve their load-bearing capacity.
  • The concrete material used for countertops is considered high-end and is one of the most expensive options for kitchen and bathroom surfaces.
  • Though concrete is commonly used in less glamorous applications, crafting concrete slabs to use as countertops requires a lot of skill and experience.

There’s no denying marble’s ability to bring a touch of elegance to any room—but the work that goes into maintaining marble countertops isn’t quite as glamorous. If you’ve been considering integrating marble into your next home renovation project, you’ve likely stumbled across the cons of marble countertops. Real marble countertops are beautiful, yet porous, high-maintenance, and less durable than other natural stones. Understandably, that’s enough to steer many homeowners away.

But what if you could enjoy the look of a marble kitchen without the added stress and maintenance of authentic marble countertops? Now you can—with etherium® by E-stone marble countertops from Granite Transformations of Charlotte.

Beauty of Marble Countertops, Benefits of etherium® by E-Stone

All of the surfaces in our Marble Countertops Collection boast the timeless beauty of traditional marble surfaces in a variety of colors and patterns. However, rather than being made of porous and fragile marble, our marble countertops are made from quartz and recycled glass. These elements, along with our proprietary sealing agent ForeverSeal®, join to create a surface that looks like real marble—yet is nonporous, low-maintenance, and stain- and scratch-resistant. With their elegant look and resilient characteristics, our etherium® by E-Stone marble countertops are perfect for backsplashes, bathroom or kitchen countertops, walk-in showers, floors, and even fireplaces!

Effortless Maintenance, Easy Installation

Not only are our marble countertops easy to maintain, but they’re also easy to install. At Granite Transformations of Charlotte, our unique installation process requires little-to-no demolition and can be completed as quickly as in one day! We simply install your new slab on top of your existing countertops—eliminating the time, mess, and labor of ripping out and removing old surfaces.

Are recycled glass countertops durable?

Our recycled glass countertops are highly durable. Made for everyday use, recycled glass countertops are scratch, stain, and impact resistant. However, you’ll still want to take good care of your countertops to keep them in peak condition. Avoid using sharp objects directly on the surface and don’t leave highly acidic juices or harsh chemicals on them for too long.

How much do recycled glass countertops cost?

The price of purchasing and installing recycled glass countertops will depend on the amount of material needed as well as the specific product you choose. Our recycled glass countertops are made with a mixture of recycled glass and natural stone, quartz, porcelain, granite, or a combination.

Where can I buy recycled glass countertops?

Granite Transformations of Colorado Springs offers a collection of recycled glass countertops, with options ranging from beautiful blue crushed glass to reflecting white quartz. While shopping for recycled glass kitchen countertops, keep in mind that not all glass countertops are created the same, and not all suppliers offer durable products. Concrete surfaces are one of the hottest new trends in interior design. Their rise in popularity can be attributed to their handcrafted beauty and versatility—they’ve come a long way from their industrial roots and can now be found in a wide variety of design styles. Whether your home’s style is modern or farmhouse, concrete countertops seem to be a rock-solid choice.

However, they do present some concerns that make us wonder if authentic concrete countertops are all they’re cracked up to be.

Authentic Concrete Surfaces: Why They’re Not All They’re Cracked Up to Be

Though we love the look of authentic concrete surfaces, they’re not the most ideal countertop material for bathrooms and kitchens. If concrete does one thing, it’s crack. Even when installed, sealed, and maintained perfectly, it’s impossible to have a concrete countertop without at least hairline cracks. They’re also susceptible to larger fractures due to pressure or natural home settlement—these cracks are almost impossible to repair and often require replacing the entire portion of the slab.

Here are a few other concerns that come with concrete surfaces:

  • Concrete is porous in nature, and without proper sealant, can absorb liquids that lead to bacteria growth, cracks, and stains. Thus, you’ll have to seal natural concrete surfaces at least once a year.
  • Concrete countertops are extremely heavy and weigh in at around 20-25 pounds per square foot. This often requires reinforcing cabinetry and flooring so they’re capable of bearing the load.
  • Despite its common use, concrete is actually one of the more expensive countertop options. It’s considered a high-end material when used as countertops and their fabrication requires skill.

Get the Look of Concrete Countertops With the Benefits of etherium® by E-stone

Transforming your seldom-used or outdated tub into a spacious, luxurious walk-in shower can give your bathroom a fast and practical upgrade. Granite Transformations of Colorado Springs specializes in bathroom renovations, including shower remodeling and tub to shower conversions.

Why a Tub to Shower Conversion?

Choosing to convert your tub into a shower can be rewarding, especially if you already have a functioning bathtub elsewhere in the home. Here are three ways a tub to shower conversion can add value to your home:

  1. A tub to shower conversion can free up valuable space in small guest baths. Large tubs can mean less room for storage, getting dressed, and counter space.
  2. For those who use mobility aids, showers make bathing more convenient. A zero-threshold shower can make entering and exiting easier for those who use wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility aids by removing large walls and curbs that need to be stepped over.
  3. Large tubs and busy shower curtains can take up space and make a room feel crowded. Showers, especially walk-ins with clear glass doors, make a bathroom of any size feel open and spacious.

Need Bathtub Remodeling?

Bathtubs can hold their weight in value, especially when it comes to the homes of families with young children and dogs. For this reason, real estate agents often advise homeowners against a tub to shower conversion when there is only one bathtub in the house. But what if your sole bathtub is large and outdated? Granite Transformations can help! A new tub surround can dramatically improve your bathroom. Call today for more information about how we can transform your tub!

Design Options for Tub to Shower Conversions

At Granite Transformations of Colorado Springs, we offer a wide range of countertops, cabinets, tiles, and slabs for your bathroom remodeling and tub to shower conversion projects. You won’t have to settle for boring fiberglass or acrylic shower stalls ever again.
