If dealing with the mess and downtime of a kitchen or bath renovation has you thinking twice about moving forward with this kind of project, you may want to think again. Granite Trend Transformations has eliminated that worry. For over 20 years, our team of expertly trained professionals has mastered how to get the job done right and fast with our revolutionary resurfacing process, where your new countertops are placed directly over your old ones. So, your kitchen will only be unusable for one day. Never thought you could have brand new countertops and a backsplash installed in a day, right? What follows is how our process works, so you can see if it would work with your busy lifestyle.
STEP 1: The Consultation
You can schedule your free in-home design consultation on our website, or by calling the location nearest you. On your consultation date, one of our trained design consultants will arrive promptly at your doorstep at the agreed upon appointment time with samples of our full line of countertops, mosaic tile backsplashes and cabinets. Whether you’re interested in a full remodel or a simple facelift to refresh your space, our consultant will determine your needs and walk you through the process, step-by-step. The benefit of our in-home consultation is that you’ll have the luxury of a shop-at-home experience, so you can see what the products would look like in your space, which will aid in your decision-making process. Just be sure to have all decision-makers present at the appointment. (It helps to have a second opinion when choosing colors, patterns and textures to suit your décor and design aesthetic.)
If you’re wondering about how to choose faucets, sinks, hardware and other accessories for your project, we’ve got that covered, too. We will save you the time and hassle of going store-to-store and searching for the perfect fixtures by bringing our broad selection right to you.
Once you’ve made your selections, you’ll receive a straightforward, all-inclusive quote, with no hidden costs and no surprises. Once you sign, you’re on to the next step.
STEP 2: Measuring/Templating and Fabrication
Measuring Process
After your contract is signed, a member of our team will schedule an appointment to come to your home to take precise measurements of your kitchen, which are then used to create a physical template. The fabricators will use this template to create and cut your countertops and backsplash to the correct size. Since every job is different, you can expect the appointment to last about two hours – or a little longer, depending on the size of the space and what you’re having done. (Countertops and the backsplash can be measured relatively quickly, whereas cabinets can add a bit more time.)
Fabrication Process
The fabrication process is when your countertops and backsplash are ordered and cut to size based on your kitchen template. This process generally takes two-to-four weeks, depending on which countertop and backsplash you choose, as some colors are more popular than others and require more time to get. Before your materials go to the installer, they are approved by our quality control team to ensure everything measures up perfectly, and there are no irregularities or nicks in the stone. We take great care to ensure all products are perfect and any quality issues, though rare, are addressed before they reach your home for installation.
STEP 3: Installation
Kitchen Countertops and Backsplashes
It’s installation day. Your new countertops and backsplash (and possibly cabinets) are loaded on the truck and are on their way to your home. By now, the plumber should have disconnected any sink pipes. This step is typically done the night before or the morning of the install.*
Here is what you can expect on installation day. We will:
- Explain what will transpire throughout the day. Most countertop and backsplash installations take six-to-eight hours.
- Conduct a complete inspection of the area.
- Cover floors and cabinets to keep the area clean.
- Remove the stove.
- Make most of the countertop cuts outside to keep the mess out of your house. Only a minimal number of cuts may be required inside. We clean as we go, so you don’t have to worry about a mess.
- Dry-fit the countertops to make sure everything fits perfectly before being glued down.
- Glue the countertops down with a two-part epoxy.
- Conduct a final inspection of the area and explain the warranty and drying process. Countertops must be allowed to dry for eight hours (overnight) to fully cure prior to use.
- Answer any questions you may have. Then, enjoy your beautiful new kitchen!
*Most jobs involving a kitchen or bathroom sink will require a plumber to disconnect the pipe before the installation of your new countertop. Granite Trend Transformations can schedule one of their contracted plumbers to do the work for you (available at select franchise locations) or homeowners can schedule one on their own.
NOTE: Cabinet refacing installations can take up to a week, depending on the size of the kitchen. Speak to your local store for details.
Bathroom Showers and Tub-to-Shower Conversions
As a rule, bathroom installations take a bit more time. Showers typically take two days to complete and tub-to-shower conversions take three-to-four days. A detailed schedule will be discussed at the time of the consultation, so you can plan accordingly.
Don’t put your kitchen or bath renovation off any longer. In just a few short weeks, you could be enjoying a beautiful new space. Schedule your free in-home consultation and see how easy it is to get started.
