Miramar, FL — September 23, 2015 — Granite Transformations is proud to announce its involvement with the Operation Build “Labor of Love” mini-series showcasing Ronald McDonald House Charities. The four-part mini-series, presented by Insight Television Productions, premiered in late August on The History Channel and featured local businesses who give back to their community by donating their exclusive products, expertise and time to transform the Ronald McDonald House in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
“We were approached by Operation Build to renovate the kitchen countertops and backsplashes at the Ronald McDonald House,” said Carl Griffenkranz, Vice President of Marketing for Granite Transformations. “My motivation to get involved was two-fold,” Carl explained. “We previously had the honor to renovate a house in Des Moines, Iowa, but on a more personal note, my youngest daughter was in the ICU during the first weeks of her life and we were offered the opportunity to stay at a Ronald McDonald House. Having both the emotional and business connection to the charity – along with the best product for the job – made it the perfect situation for Granite Transformations to get involved,” Carl said.
The lead designer of the project chose Granite Transformations because of the company’s ability to install the product very quickly with no messy demolition, and for the outstanding qualities of the recycled glass countertop and mosaic tile products. Since the scope of the job involved an area that consisted of four kitchens, it was necessary to have at least one of the kitchens operating while the others were being transformed. One of the designer’s challenges was to coordinate the kitchen and dining area with the right product in the perfect color. “One of the many advantages of our products is our ability to customize our mosaics,” Carl said. “It was a great feeling to know we developed the perfect blend of colors to fit her vision.” Made with up to 72% post-consumer recycled materials that are combined with man-made semi-precious stones, Granite Transformations’ countertops are manufactured to withstand high-traffic areas and are heat-, stain- and scratch-resistant. More importantly for this project was the ability of the countertop to resist germs and bacterial growth as a nonporous surface, making it the perfect choice to maintain a healthy environment for children and their families, where cleanliness is critical.
The month-long project was a huge success but it was the emotion and appreciation behind the effort that really made the difference. “It wasn’t until the unveiling of the project and seeing all the smiling faces that I realized what an amazing thing we were a part of,” Carl said. “Giving back to our community is a wonderful feeling, but there’s nothing better than knowing the children and their families have a bright, beautiful space where they can cook, eat and spend quality time together. These are the opportunities that drive our business forward and make our work worthwhile.
