I don’t imagine any of you out there reading this would liken yourself an imperial emperor, nor a monarch, nor a Roman aristocrat. So, you must not think that fine mosaic designs and refined, glossy-looking backsplashes adorning every room from the kitchen to the bathroom to the living room would be an option for you – it’s only fit for a king! Not so! You, too, can give your home that elegant feel that only a mosaic design can deliver.
In kitchens we might be stuck obsessing over which cabinets to choose, the proper sink, and the appliances and fixtures, but what about those pesky walls under the cabinets, behind the stove, or along your kitchen island? Well, all of those sometimes overlooked places are the perfect areas to think about putting in a colorful backsplash or classy and subtle mosaic stretching across the kitchen, or around the island. The installation for such a lavish addition is practically seamless, with no disruption done to the rest of the room. No worries, you won’t be spending any nights in a Super 8 while your backsplashes and mosaics are being carefully added to your kitchen.
The bathroom…oh, the bathroom! A place of hygiene and relaxation, but some of our nation’s bathrooms look a little worse for wear and could surely use a little pick-me-up. Why not deliver that wash room shot-in-the-arm with some gorgeous mosaics in the shower, around the mirror, or even on the bathroom countertop itself. You might want a subdued, earthy tone, like a brown or bronze, to give a relaxed feel to your bathroom. Perhaps a delicate gold and white mosaic design on the walls of your shower might be just the thing to perk you up in the morning, and certainly better than grimy plain white tile. You’ll consider your bathroom downright palatial after giving it the mosaic touch.
“But…how can I incorporate mosaic designs into my living room or family room?” Quite easily, we say. If you have a fireplace or stone walls in either your living room, family room, den , office, or front foyer (or any other entryway in your house, for that matter) mosaics go perfectly with stone or gray brick. Adding mosaic accents to your fireplace could turn a plain, yet homey, fireplace into a showpiece that still provides that house (and heart) warming flame. Trend mosaics are versatile enough to find a place in almost any room of the house.
Whether it’s a calm, even toned mosaic, or a richly devised design using a backsplash or mosaic pattern adds an undeniable touch of class to any room in the house. Mosaics aren’t just for ancient Roman palaces or decadent Etruscan villas, they’re for your kitchen, bathroom, and living room – so decorate like an emperor and give your home a look that is sure to please you.
