The time is almost here. The days we must entertain and impress our loved ones for Christmas, unless you plan on travelling to someone else’s house this upcoming holiday weekend. It’s never an easy task, what with making sure the food is prepared, the house is clean, the children aren’t tampering with the gifts under the tree until the morning of Christmas. This time of the year also acts as a real litmus test for you and the current complextion of your home.
How do your countertops stack up? Are the linoleum finishes beginning to wear? Could new granite countertops perhaps be in the cards after the holidays? Perhaps some new mosaic shower walls to wash away the grimy tile you currently have? When people come and see what you’re packing from a domestic perspective the weakness become that much more glaring.
If you’re remodeling your kitchen or simply updating the design you currently have, here’s a list of fun kitchen trends to look out for once the ball drops in a little more than a month!
Bright Appliances.
Colorful appliances and cooking accouterments can add an unexpected element of fun to your kitchen. They are an easy way to breathe life into an otherwise bland kitchen. Kitchenaid offers a wide array of colorful countertop appliances, including stand mixers, blenders, and toasters in a spectrum of eye-popping colors. There’s something delicious about the nostalgia these vintage-inspired items arouse.
It’s been a long time coming, but we’ve finally enabled the functionality that you’ve been waiting for (we’ve sure been waiting for it). Previously, if you had happened upon our product colors preview pages within the granite countertop and glass countertop sections of our website you’d be treated to a list of some of our stylish colors – problems was the pictures were small and hard to see. Detail is everything, we get it.
In recent years master bathrooms have been looking more like the Caracalla Baths than a simple set of porcelain installations ready to be used for our various degrees of freshening. These colossal master bathrooms have been slowly sauntering back into the home remodeling conversation, especially as the economy looks to rise from late 2000’s ashes. Let’s take a look at what MSN.com is calling the top 10 bathroom trends of the season.
Kitchen counter installation is an involved process, to say the least. When choosing countertop material you’re also choosing how to spend the days of installation – in your home or outside of it. If you choose a thick slab like traditional granite, marble, or soapstone you’ll probably want to escape the confines of your home as the contractors will be ripping out chunks of your island, countertop base, and making a general mess of things for about a week or more. If you’ve got new cabinets to compliment the new countertops then, well, fuggedaboutit!
Looks like a whole lot of disruption.
You have to prepare yourself for the noise and debris and you’ve got to account for your stress levels rising. What if there was a different way? (more…)
Some of you may think we’re merely domestic specialists. Not true. We often venture outside the comfortable confines of the home to ring our gorgeous granite, glass, and mosaic to more heavily trafficked and public spaces.

Just when you thought you had us figured out, here we are, throwing you a curveball. Many people know us as quality providers of granite countertop overlays, glass countertop overlays, refaced cabinets, acrylic bath liners, and glass mosaic tile – commercially as well as in the comforts of your own home. But now we have taken our talents to a slightly less affixed sector – furniture!
Well, if you haven’t browsed the Granite Transformations site lately you ought to go take a couple of minutes and give it a once over. Right as you arrive on our home page you’ll find a semi-discreet video box just to the right of the main center graphic. What most people don’t do is click on it, but man oh MAN should they ever. I sometimes forget exactly how cool one of our videos is, but I’ll allow you to make your own judgments. Ladies and gentleman, without further ado I re-present to you “Bowling Ball vs. Trend Stone.” Enjoy!
Seems pretty conclusive, folks. The bowling ball absolutely decimated the regular slab of granite while our composite trend stone showed the bowling ball who was boss – and the trend stone looked great doing it! Seriously though, if your counter top can withstand some hard, Charles Barkley-like dribbles of a bowling ball with nary a scratch then just imagine the resistance your new granite countertop can have against typical kitchen mishaps. Oh the possibilities.
We spend a great deal of time on our blog talking about homes, way to upgrade homes, other people’s homes that we think are notably attractive, and basically anything else you could think of that can be neatly filed under the keyword “home.” Well today is your lucky day, especially if you’re someone who prefers the nautical lifestyle to one bound by yards, sidewalks, and driveways.
Selecting the color for your granite countertop is a personal and ultimately long-lasting decision. Serious thought must be paid to it because, let’s face it, you don’t want to select a red countertop and then realize ‘oh no! I’m a gray person!’ Installing a countertop is a decision that provides great value, as it’s a home fixture that will last as long as you will (not to be morbid), but also doesn’t allow for much modification post installation. So, let’s make sure we get it right the first time.
